The American Nurses Association (ANA) is expanding its annual recognition and celebration of nurses from a week-long event to a month-long observance again in 2021. With the theme of "Nurses Make a Difference," each week during Nurses Month will have a specific focus:
- Self-Care (May 1-9)
- Recognition (May 10-16)
- Professional Development (May 17-23)
- Community Engagement (May 24-31)
In honor of National Nurses Month, ANA will host a free webinar entitled "Redefining Nursing — Reaffirming Our Practice."
The Gratitude Symposium
During the month of May, 45 experts are joining together to provide healthcare workers with a series of free presentations meant to thank, teach, and inspire those in health care.
Future of Nursing 2020-2030 Report
On May 11, 2021, the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) released the Future of Nursing 2020-2030 report – The Future of Nursing: Charting a Path to Achieve Health Equity. The report explores how nurses can work to reduce health disparities and promote equity, while keeping costs at bay, utilizing technology, and maintaining patient and family-focused care. Sponsored by Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, this report builds on the foundation set out by the 2011 Institute of Medicine report, The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health.
