SUNA President Cheryl LeCroy and President-Elect Victor Senese attended the Fifth Global Forum on Incontinence (GFI) held in Madrid, Spain on April 8-9, 2014. The focus of the meeting was "Better care, better health - towards a framework for better continence solutions." Over 300 participants representing policymakers, payers, medical experts, patient organizations, civil society groups, and health professional organizations from more than 30 countries convened to learn more about the impact of incontinence on patients, caregivers, and society and to discuss solutions to improve the quality and delivery of continence care services.
A document outlining the discussions and perspectives of attendees has been released. This document entitled "Summary of Stakeholder Perspectives on the Optimum Continence Service Specification" presents a brief overview of the Optimum Continence Service Specification and summarizes the stakeholder discussions regarding current barriers and available solutions for better continence care.
