Meet the Candidates for the Upcoming 2024 SUNA Election

The Nominations Committee has identified the following SUNA Members to run for the open positions of Treasurer and Director-at-Large (2). View their profiles below detailing each candidate’s qualifications and goals for SUNA.

Voting will be open July 1-31, 2024, and will be conducted electronically. Please ensure you have a valid email address in your SUNA membership account so you can participate in this year's election. You will receive email notifications containing voting instructions and a link to vote.

The winners of this election will be recognized at SUNA's Annual uroLogic Conference, which will take place September 26-29, 2024, at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld® in Florida. Please make plans to attend the conference and meet the newly elected candidates to show your support for SUNA's future!

SUNA holds an election each year for open board positions. If you are interested in joining the leadership team to facilitate the advancement of the organization's mission, vision, and strategic plan, please be on the lookout in early 2025 for the call for nominations.

Treasurer (1 position)

Oklahoma State Chapter President, Director at Large SUNA Board, board liaison for MA standards task force

Goals for the Position You Seek:

I am applying to continue on the SUNA board of directors as Treasurer. I greatly appreciate SUNA membership entrusting me in this position for the last 2 years. In this role I have supported the mission and vision of SUNA. I have been actively engaged in advocating for urology nurses and associates as a part of the board team. I have been the liaison to the MA standards task force as well participating in the education portions of the newly developed training modules for medical assistants.

It is my goal to have a positive impact on urology health care as well as patient outcomes. Being a part of the national SUNA board of directors allows me the opportunity to continue towards exceeding my goal.

I hope you will consider re-electing me into this new position to continue these efforts in the future.

Presenter at 2023 uroLogic conference "Men's Sexual Dysfunction", Co-author for patient fact sheet "Low Testosterone", Reviewer for patient fact sheet "Nocturia, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee member

Goals for the Position You Seek:

In 2015, I started my career as a nurse practitioner and became a member of SUNA in 2016. SUNA has helped to develop my foundation as a urologic provider. After gaining experience in urology, I became a certified urology nurse practitioner from the Certification Board for Urologic Nurses and Associates in 2018. Most recently, I had the opportunity to be a presenter at the 2023 SUNA uroLogic conference on Men’s Sexual Dysfunction in addition to previously serving as a co-author and reviewer for task forces for patient fact sheets on low testosterone and nocturia, respectively through SUNA. I have recently joined the SUNA Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion committee where we are currently working to have patient fact sheets translated into multiple languages to ensure a broader patient population is able to be reached to education on common urologic conditions. I hope to continue my growth as a urologic provider with SUNA while actively reaching others to encourage and foster their learning and involvement in SUNA through the SUNA National Board of Directors position of Director-at-Large.

SUNA Activities:

Current: Conference Planning Committee 2023-2024; FAUNA Secretary 2023-current; Authored/Co-authored 3 chapters in the upcoming Core Curriculum in Adult Urology (Under review); Current member of DEI taskforce. Past Service: Multiple years of attendance at SUNA conferences; Multiple years of membership; authored a chapter in the First Edition of Core Curriculum, FAUNA task force to update the FAUNA selection criteria, rubric, and website; Podium presenter, poster presenter; Preconference speaker; Conference Planning Committee uroLogic Conference 2022-2023.

Goals for the Position You Seek:

In my role as Director-at-Large for SUNA, I aim to foster collaboration between the Board of Directors and the National Office, overseeing the organization's endeavors with a particular emphasis on SUNA Chapters. My objective is to advocate for the interests of Chapter Presidents and members, offering guidance and promoting effective communication channels. I am dedicated to supporting new chapters and offering support to those facing challenges, while also presiding over annual chapter/regional member meetings. Additionally, I will serve as a liaison to a SUNA Committee or task force, as well as a special interest group, as required by the SUNA President. Furthermore, I am committed to building strong relationships with SUNA members and providing mentorship to those who aspire to become future leaders within the organization.

Goals for the Position You Seek:

I want to empower and advance urology providers. I believe it is important to be engaged with other providers in improving not only our profession but improving patient care along the way. I want to work to promote urology providers through practice, education, advocacy, and leadership. I would like to see this empowerment and advancement through improved reimbursement across the United States for urology providers. I would like to provide more education on billing and coding practices. I would like to continue to produce white papers and clinical guidelines as an organization. I want to work with urology providers, especially advanced practice providers, to empower them to sit on leadership and organizational boards. Increasing our presence in all areas will elevate and advance our profession.
